Doris D’Hooghe

Doris D’Hooghe is psychotraumatoloog, integratief kindertherapeut en EMDR-practitioner. Met meer dan 40 jaar ervaring als psychotherapeut en kindertherapeut begon ze haar carrière als psychiatrisch verpleegkundige. Ze volgde diverse opleidingen, waaronder Gestalttherapie, Groepstherapie, Transpersoonlijke Psychologie, Integratieve Kindertherapie, Psychotraumatologie en EMDR.

Als oprichtster van Trauma Centrum België  werkt ze sinds 1990 in haar privépraktijk, waar ze therapie biedt aan kinderen, adolescenten, volwassenen en ouderen met complexe trauma’s.

Benadering

Doris combineert inzichten uit psychologie, neurowetenschappen, sociologie en spiritualiteit om een holistische en op maat gemaakte therapie te ontwikkelen. Ze gelooft in de inherente kracht en het zelfhelend vermogen van ieder individu en hanteert een cliëntgerichte aanpak.

Door een breed scala aan evidence-based technieken af te stemmen op de specifieke behoeften van haar cliënten, helpt ze hen hun unieke zelf te ontwikkelen. Haar doel is om mensen te ondersteunen in hun proces van herstel en hen te begeleiden naar een authentiek en vervullend leven.

Doris is al meer dan 15 jaar een erkend docent en internationaal spreker op het gebied van trauma en hechting. Haar trainingen, workshops en publicaties zijn te vinden op LinkedIn, Academia press en www.traumacentrum.be.

Daarnaast is ze regelmatig te gast in de media vanwege haar expertise. In 2022 trad ze op als deskundige in het televisieprogramma “Als je eens wist”, waarin het gewelddadige gedrag van kinderen tegenover hun ouders werd onderzocht.

Achtergrond

Doris is een gerenommeerd specialist op het gebied van vroegkinderlijk trauma binnen hechtingsrelaties. Haar werk richt zich op de impact van interrelationele trauma’s in de prenatale fase en vroege kindertijd en de ontwikkeling van effectieve behandelingsmodellen.

Ze introduceerde het concept “Ongezien hechtingsstrauma”, gepubliceerd in het Journal of Child and Adolescent Behavior en op LinkedIn. Haar publicaties “Seeing the Unseen: Early Attachment Trauma and The Impact on Child Development” en “Invisible Attachment Trauma” verdiepen zich in dit baanbrekende concept. Daarnaast droeg ze bij aan “The Neuroeducation Toolbox: Practical Translation of Neuroscience in Counseling and Psychotherapy”.

Samen met Frauke Heyde schreef ze het zelfhulpboek voor kinderen met PTSS, “Oscar en het avontuur in de speelgoedkist” (Garant), en werkt momenteel aan een tweede prentenboek, “Oma Blob”, dat kinderen helpt dissociatieve reacties te herkennen.

Doris heeft de afgelopen jaren gewerkt aan een herdefiniëring van dissociatie als een traumareactie op vroeg hechtingstrauma, die de ontwikkeling van het kind negatief beïnvloedt. Samen met haar collega Layla Brack ontwikkelde ze het ‘Developmental Model of Dissociation’. Ze zijn tevens co-auteurs van een aankomend boek bij Routledge over gehechtheid, hechtingstrauma en de therapeutische implicaties daarvan.
